Selection Sources
After a basic library collection is built, additional materials are chosen to maintain a high-quality collection that supports curriculum and enhances learning.
Materials are selected from the following sources:

Public Access Catalog for the Howard County Public School System
-
Approved List of Bibliographic Sources and Reviewing Journals
-
Blanket Approval - sources of consistently high quality materials
-
Central AV Library
-
List of resources in approved curriculum guides, including those for approved pilot programs

List of materials pertaining to an approved textbook, when the materials are an integral part of the textbook series and published by the same publisher (e.g., audio or video materials, compact discs, DVD's, etc...).

Requests from Staff, Students and Community Members
If you have a resource in mind you would like to have in our Media Center that does not meet the normal requirements, please fill out this form and hand in to the librarian. Please note you must get signatures from three certificated staff members who give the item a favorable evaluation.
